'Fame' Goes Black for Los Angeles Premiere
Movie

Plus, the first six minutes of Kevin Tancharoen's modern take on the 1980 musical 'Fame' has been released.

AceShowbiz - Two days prior to the theatrical release of "Fame", the city of angels played host to a Los Angeles premiere for the musical drama. Black dominated the special screening event that took place at Pacific Theatres at The Grove as the usual red carpet was replaced with a black one to welcome the celebrities attending.

Some of the stars of the remake film opted to dress up for the premiere, while some others chose to go with a casual look. Naturi Naughton wore a shiny purple mermaid gown, Asher Book suited up in a slate gray suit completed with white sneakers, and Kay Panabaker was dressed in a Ports 1961 flowing, knee-length red and purple dress with beaded neckline. Collins Pennie, on the other hand, styled himself in black with a green jacket as a top off.

Joining those four bringing the glam to the black carpet were their co-stars, Kelsey Grammer, Megan Mullally, Charles S. Dutton, Debbie Allen, Walter Perez, Paul McGill, Paul Iacono, Kherington Payne, Cody Longo, Kristy Flores and Ryan Surratt. And, not missing out on the event was film director Kevin Tancharoen.

Before heading into the theaters for the screening, Naughton made time to talk with the press. To USA Today, she shared funny moments on the set saying, "Asher is the jokester. He pretended to be an extra dummy. We had dummies in the audience - because we couldn't have a bunch of extras - and he went out there and no one knew where he was; he was in the scene. And he just stood there really still. I love Asher because he's always up for a good laugh. It made things light on the set."

Other celebrities spotted coming to the premiere included Kay's actress sister Danielle Panabaker, "High School Musical 3: Senior Year" star Ashley Tisdale, "The Twilight Saga's New Moon" actress Christian Serratos and former NSYNC member J.C. Chasez. Mario Lopez and Dionne Warwick were also present.

The premiere aside, the first six minutes of this movie has been brought forth by Yahoo! Movies. The extended footage presents a look at the audition day at New York City High School of Performing Arts. It also serves as an introduction to some of the major characters as they make their way to the school for their first phase into fame.

An updated version of the 1980 musical, "Fame" follows a talented group of dancers, singers, actors, and artists over four years at New York City High School of Performing Arts as they are given a chance to live out their dreams. But, in an incredibly competitive atmosphere, plagued by self-doubt, each student's passion will be put to the test and they will discover who among them will achieve fame. It will be distributed by MGM across the U.S. this Friday, September 25.
