When responding to question about future 'Superman' movie, DC Entertainment president claims, 'We actually don't have any current plans for Superman.'

AceShowbiz - Warner Bros. has lost the screening right to Superman's origin story, and with the studio now joining forces with DC Comics to form DC Entertainment, the question whether a movie for the iconic hero will be developed is met with an unexpected answer. Diane Nelson, the newly-anointed head of DC Entertainment, recently told MTV there is no plan on another "Superman" movie.
When asked by the network on the possibility of a "Superman" movie, Nelson responded, "We actually don't have any current plans for Superman." She further elaborated her remark, "We've obviously done a lot of great things behind the property in our history, and it's a key part of the family, but we don't have current plans behind Superman."
In August, a judge in charge on the Federal court battle over this superhero character ruled that the family of the superhero's co-creator, Jerry Siegel, is now in control of rights to additional works, including the first two weeks of the daily Superman newspaper comic-strips. The ruling, which will be effective in 2013, forces Warners and DC Comics to get another "Superman" movie into production by 2011 if they want to develop it.
"Ninja Assassin" helmer James McTeigue has recently offered on what he would like to do to a new "Superman" film should he get the chance. "I think if I was ever going to go near Superman, I would do a complete reboot-take it in a direction that you would absolutely not expect, actually," he shared. "So, that would be my thinking on it, if I was ever going to go near Superman."
