The fourth installment of the 'Final Destination' series claims second victory at the North American box office, denying 'All About Steve' a chance to taste the top slot.

AceShowbiz - "The Final Destination" is a box office champion one more time. After beating up "H2: Halloween 2" at the race to the top of North American box office last weekend, the fourth "Final Destination" film won the first three days of this Labor Day weekend and retained its #1 position for a second-straight weekend.

With an estimated $12.4 million in its pocket, the 3-D thriller came ahead of romantic comedy "All About Steve" and is thought to soon pass the $54 million bow collected by "Final Destination 3". So far, its ten days haul brought the ticket sales to the approximate total of $47.6 million, and it is expected to rake in more when the four days tally is counted.

Having broken the franchise's highest opening weekend debut last weekend, the movie that follows a group of teens who try to cheat death is on its way to become the top moneymaker of the series. Previous record was held by the third movie which earned $54.1 million domestically since its release in 2006.

Hot on "Final Destination" tail on the second place was Sandra Bullock's latest romantic comedy, "All About Steve". Despite the negative reviews it received, the 20th Century Fox movie managed to pull in an estimated $11.2 million and pleased the studio with the number. "We're thrilled with the number," an official at Fox commented.

If compared to the recent launch of its two leading actors' latest movies, "Steve" presented a considerable drop. Bullock had a $33.6 million opening bow for her June hit "The Proposal", while her co-star Bradley Cooper's "The Hangover" debuted with $45 million worth of ticket sales. In fact, the $11 million bow is Bullock's lowest-grossing wide-release movie since 2002's "Murder By Numbers".

Slipping down one slot to third position was Quentin Tarantino's "Inglourious Basterds". Although it saw a 43.8|percent| decline in sales, it stayed strong in its third weekend with approximately $10.8 million. Since it was released in late August, the Brad Pitt-toplined epic has garnered as much as $91 million.

Fourth place went to newcomer "Gamer". The thriller about real humans controlled by players in lethal games took in around $9 million in its first weekend in theaters. Previous box office champ "District 9", in the meantime, rounded up the top five with about $7 million more. The additional bow brought the sci-fi movie's revenue total to $101.3 million.
