While speculation is still hot on what causes DJ AM's sudden passing on Friday, August 28, some details surrounding the case have been uncovered by a police source. It is said that the 36-year-old was already dead when officers arrived at his New York City apartment in response to a 911 call reportedly made by a friend.

"He was found in his bedroom, in bed, face down," says the police source, adding that the DJ was not wearing shirt but was wearing pants. No comment has been made just yet by AM's family about the early findings.

In the meantime, an unnamed source has informed People that in his final days AM had been dealing with his split from model Hayley Wood, a situation that is claimed to bring him down. "She ended it, and he didn't want it to end. The break-up hurt him. He hadn't been in a good place lately. For the past week, he wasn't really around, he was keeping to himself, and he was blowing people off," so the source claims.

On Tuesday, August 25, AM tweeted a lyric from Grandmaster Flash, "New york, new york. Big city of dreams, but everything in new york ain't always what it seems."

DJ AM narrowly escaped death in jet crash with drummer Travis Barker back in September 2008. Last year, he revealed that he was abused by his father, became addicted to drugs and had attempted suicide. He said he attended recovery meetings and had remained drug-free for about a decade.
