David Archuleta, Pitbull, Demi Lovato and Christina Aguilera are some of 2009 ALMA Awards' nominees in music.

AceShowbiz - A press conference unveiling nominations of 2009 NCLR ALMA Awards has been conducted in Los Angeles with "Desperate Housewives" star Eva Longoria and Janet Murguia, President and CEO of NCLR (National Council of La Raza), attending the event as its announcers. In music field, it was revealed that the likes of David Archuleta, Pitbull, Demi Lovato and Christina Aguilera appear in the list.

Celebrating the outstanding achievements of Latinos in entertainment, this year's ALMA Awards will take place on September 17 at Royce Hall on the UCLA campus and broadcast the next day at 8:00 - 10:00 P.M. EST on ABC. This will be the first time the awards is conducted during National Hispanic Heritage Month, in which American learn about the Latino community and celebrate the contributions that Latinos have made to the country throughout its history.

"Thanks to our partnership with ABC, we have realized the dream of having the ALMA Awards air during the month in which our community is recognized and celebrated. I can think of no better way to kick off National Hispanic Heritage Month than to show, and to honor, the impact that Latinos have had in film, television, and music," said Janet.

The event will be hosted by Eva Longoria, who also serves as the show's executive producer, alongside comedian and actor George Lopez. Beside honoring musicians, it will also recognize hottest talents in television and movie. As for its special awards, the prizes go to Salma Hayek and Oscar De La Hoya among others.

Musical guests at the show include Nelly Furtado, Selena Gomez, Sean Kingston and Pitbull. In additon, Adam Rodriguez, Benjamin Bratt, Dania Ramirez and Michelle Rodriguez are also lined up as its presenters.
