Robert Pattinson Wanted for 'Youngblood'

Asked if he has potential actors in mind for his live-action movie based on Rob Liefeld's Image Comics superteam, director Brett Ratner drops the name of the 'Twilight' hunk.

AceShowbiz - Director Brett Ratner has set his eyes on Robert Pattinson to be a potential candidate for his "Youngblood" crew. The helmer of "X-Men: The Last Stand" unveiled his desire to have the "Twilight" star when MTV caught up with him. "Definitely [Robert Pattinson] from 'Twilight'," so he claimed.

On the reason why he wants the British actor in the live-action project, Ratner pointed out, "He just feels like he belongs in that world. I don't only see him as a vampire, he's a really good actor." The 40-year-old filmmaker furthermore added, "[Pattinson] could do anything. He just has that look. I picture him on Youngblood, for sure."

While he gushed on Pattinson's skills as an actor, Ratner didn't give any clue on which character he envisions the 23-year-old actor will tackle. However, MTV suggested that the Edward Cullen of the "Twilight Saga" series is likely to take on the role of Shaft, a former FBI agent and expert marksman who leads the Youngblood team.

As for the status of the project, Ratner shared that the script is still being written. He also mentioned that the mature themes of the source material won't be excluded from the screenplay. "My vision for it is: We're going to make a very edgy, cool film," he moreover elaborated his comment. "We're not soft-peddling it at all."

"Youngblood" is a live-action movie based on Rob Liefeld's Image Comics superteam of the same name. The series itself chronicle the adventures of a superheroes team which is sanctioned and overseen by the United States Government. Screenwriter duo, J.P. Lavin and Chad Damiani, have been hired to pen the script.

Famed for his portrayal of Edward Cullen in "Twilight", Robert Pattinson will be seen reprising his role in the vampire drama's sequel, "The Twilight Saga's New Moon". His other future feature projects include "Remember Me" and "The Twilight Saga's Eclipse".
