Joining the cast ensemble of 'The Twilight Saga's Eclipse', Colombian actress Catalina Sandino Moreno will play Maria in the third installment of the vampire drama movies.

AceShowbiz - After adding "Eastwick" actor Jack Huston in the cast ensemble of "The Twilight Saga's Eclipse", Summit Entertainment recruited another star to the actors list. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Catalina Sandino Moreno, who is best known for her role in 2004's film "Maria Full of Grace", has been tapped to play new character in the film that is based on the third novel from Stephenie Meyer's "Twilight" series.
28-year-old Moreno will portray a vampire character named Maria. The character is described as a woman who tries to create a newborn army of vampires, recruiting the Confederate soldier Jasper to her cause. In the Meyer's book, Maria is identified as a petite brunette with a soft voice.
Colombia-born actress Catalina Sandino Moreno was nominated as Best Actress at the 77th Academy Awards for her Maria Alvarez role in "Maria Full of Grace". She was also named Best Actress at the Berlin Film Festival for her portrayal of Alvarez. Meanwhile, her latest film was "Che" biopic, which is divided into two parts titled "The Argentine" and "Guerrilla". In the biopic, she starred as Aleida March de Guevara.
Previously, Summit has recruited several other new cast members. Australian actor Xavier Samuel is tapped to play Riley, and Jodelle Ferland is set to portray a character which is described as "a vampire who has just been turned". Jack Huston, in the meantime, will star as Royce King II, a character who was engaged to Nikki Reed's Rosalie Hale before she joined the Cullen clan.
In "The Twilight Saga's Eclipse", Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart are back to reprise their roles as Edward Cullen and Bella Swan respectively. Knowing that her decision has the potential to ignite the ageless struggle between vampire and werewolf, Bella once again finds herself surrounded by danger while she is forced to choose between her love for Edward and her friendship with Jacob in this movie. Directed by David Slade, the film has a U.S. release date schedule of June 30, 2010.
