The actor who takes up the part of Colonel James Rhodes in the 'Iron Man' sequel spills on the strains the War Machine suit will bring to the relationship between Tony Stark and his character.

AceShowbiz - War Machine will take on a significant part in "Iron Man 2", and actor Don Cheadle has opened up about it. In an interview with MTV News, the man who portrays Colonel James 'Rhodey' Rhodes talked about the conflicts that rise between his character and Robert Downey Jr.'s Tony Stark due to the War Machine suit.
"What's interesting is that there are so many different iterations of War Machine and Tony Stark from all the different comics," the 44-year-old first pointed out. "It was really trying to find the common thread, the through-line... [And] the through-line really is their friendship. They're actually really good friends."
He furthermore continued to explain, indicating that their conflicts come out from the differences of their careers. "We kept asking ourselves: How does that play out with Tony Stark being an independent contractor doing what he wants to do, and Rhodes actually being in the military," he said. "There's a real chain of command he has to follow. What's the conflict that creates?"
During 2009 San Diego Comic Con, a roughly five minutes footage of "Iron Man" sequel had been previewed. The sneak peek provides first glimpse of the War Machine armor in addition to featuring two major scenes, which see Tony Stark's meeting with S.H.I.E.L.D. director Nick Fury and him in a congressional hearing.
"Iron Man 2" stars once again Robert Downey Jr. and Gwyneth Paltrow who reprise their roles as Tony Stark/Iron Man and Pepper Potts. They are joined by Don Cheadle who will take on Colonel James 'Rhodey' Rhodes in place of Terrence Howard. Mickey Rourke, Scarlett Johansson, Samuel L. Jackson, Sam Rockwell join them in the star-studded cast ensemble.
The script of this superhero film is written by "Tropic Thunder" co-scribbler Justin Theroux. So far, the plot of this sequel is yet to be disclosed, though rumor has it, Stark will be dealing with his alcohol problem. Directed once again by Jon Favreau, it is set to hit U.S. theaters on May 7, 2010.
