'Chaotic' Life of Octomom to Air on FOX

Although it seems like an exploitation of minors, FOX puts the order for a six-figure account to benefit the octuplets financially.

AceShowbiz - Nadya Suleman or more well-known as Octomom, has struck a deal with FOX Broadcasting to have a two-hour television special which will air on August 19. The network bought the rights from Pilgrim Films and Television to have the footage of Suleman after giving birth to octuplets in January this year.

The footage was actually obtained from RadarOnline.com that had a deal to film Suleman and how she coped up with the large family since March. Titled "Octomom: The Incredible Unseen Footage", the special is going to show viewers how chaotic her life is with 14 kids at home. There will be no host or narration but "inner monologue" in Suleman's head.

Mike Darnell, FOX's head of alternative programming, admitted that he put the order right after watching the first few minutes of the raw footage. He said in an interview that the documentary is "in its purest form" and that Suleman is "an incredibly compelling figure".

Darnell gave a bit of what to expect from the special, saying "It really shows the surrealness of what she's experiencing, right from the point of bringing the first two babies home to a 1,400-square-foot home. We're inside the car with her. It shows what her relationship is like with her parents, where there's an enormous amount of conflict. It's truly surreal. We see eight screaming children on a bed while six others are running around."

Controversy is expected to follow right after the TV deal since Suleman has been accused over the months that she is obsessed with publicity. "There will be public debate before, during and after the special," said Darnell. "But that's the history of Fox. Once in a while, we embrace edgy material, and Nadya is certainly compelling."
