'Hannah Montana' Wins TV Comedy at Teen Choice Awards

Fans are voting for more young-oriented shows at the award event, picking the series over 'The Office' and 'How I Met Your Mother' among others.

AceShowbiz - Disney Channel's "Hannah Montana" beats more adult-oriented shows in a couple of categories at 11th Annual Teen Choice Awards. It wins Choice Parental Unit through Billy Ray Cyrus who had to compete with parents from TV shows such as "90210" and "Gossip Girl".

Beside, the series starring Miley Cyrus also tramples "How I Met Your Mother" and "The Office" in winning Choice TV Show: Comedy. Miley herself is a winner for Choice TV Actress: Comedy.

Other TV winners have also been unveiled at the gala ceremony held at Universal Studios Hollywood's Gibson Amphitheatre on Sunday, August 9. Kristen Bell and Ali Larter have to surrender to their "Heroes" co-star Hayden Panettiere whose cheerleader Claire portrayal won her the trophy for Choice TV Actress: Action Adventure.

Demi Lovato, who is absent from the event, is voted Choice Breakout Female TV Star while Jonas Brothers' youngest brood Frankie Jonas wins in Choice Breakout Male TV Star. Frankie will be at Ryan Seacrest's radio show on Monday, August 10 morning for interviews.

The latest to be announced as winner is Ed Westwick. The "Gossip Girl" star helps to bring the temporary total win of the show four by picking up the Choice TV Villain.
