Director Simon Curtis reportedly has named the 'Iron Man 2' star among the potential actresses to portray Marilyn Monroe for his biopic drama about the late superstar.

AceShowbiz - Scarlett Johansson may bring legendary actress Marilyn Monroe to life on the big screen. The actress who portrays Black Widow in "Iron Man 2" has been considered by director Simon Curtis to portray the late superstar for his upcoming biopic, "My Week with Marilyn", as reported by The Insider.

Among the potential actresses in Curtis' list, Johansson is said to be the filmmaker's first option to take on the leading female character. According to newspaper columnist Baz Bamigboye, her contenders for the role include "Bride Wars" leading lady Kate Hudson, "Doubt" star Amy Adams and "Shutter Island" actress Michelle Williams.

"My Week with Marilyn" is a drama biopic based on the diary of Laurence Olivier's employee, Colin Clark, who looked after the blond bombshell when she came to London in 1957 to film Olivier's "The Prince and the Showgirl". In the diary, Clark talked about showing Monroe around Queen Elizabeth's private apartments at Windsor Castle and other "behind-the-scenes" trips.

Clark published excerpts of his diary in 1958, but left the details of one week out. These chapters weren't released until he died in 2002, and this one week experience with the late actress will be the main idea of the film. British film writer Adrian Hodges has adapted the diary into a script and David Parfitt will produce the movie which eyes a 2010 release.

Scarlett Johansson recently appeared in 2009 romantic comedy "He's Just Not That Into You". In the movie, she stars alongside Bradley Cooper and Kevin Connolly. Married to actor Ryan Reynolds, she is also famous for her role in "The Horse Whisperer", "Lost in Translation", and "Girl with a Pearl Earring".
