Confirmed: Michael Sheen Joins 'Tron Legacy'

Walt Disney Pictures has officially noted that the 'Frost/Nixon' star has a role in the 'Tron 2' movie, though the studio doesn't mention further what role he is tackling.

Words on the street that "" star is joining "" have been proven to be a true one. Walt Disney Pictures has confirmed that the 40-year-old BAFTA-nominated actor has officially become a part of the "Tron" sequel's cast ensemble via Twitter on Wednesday, July 29.

In a response to a confirmation plea made by fansite Michael Sheen Online, the studio tweeted, "Yes, Michael Sheen will have a role in Tron Legacy!" Although coming out with such answer, the mouse house didn't go on further on detailing what character the actor will tackle in the movie. Hence, it is still unclear whether Sheen will be the villain as what has been suggested earlier.

"Tron Legacy" follows Sam Flynn, the tech-savvy son of Kevin Flynn, as he investigates his father's disappearance and finds himself pulled into the same world of fierce programs and gladiatorial games where his father has been living for 25 years. After finding Kevin, Sam joins forces with him and Kevin's loyal confidant on a life-and-death journey across a visually-stunning cyber universe that has become far more advanced and exceedingly dangerous.

Starring Jeff Bridges and , the sequel of Disney's 1982 cult classic called "Tron" will be directed by Joseph Kosinski and supported by , and . The screenplay is written by Adam Horowitz, Richard Jefferies and Edward Kitsis.

Michael Sheen is famed for his portrayal of Tony Blair in the Stephen Frears-directed films, "" and "". He has been seen recently starring as David Frost in "Frost/Nixon" and as Lucian in "". He has been tapped to carry out the role of Volturi's leader Aro in "".
