Narrowly escaping a serious on-set accident when filming for 'Don't Be Afraid of the Dark', the Rachel Dawes of 'Batman Begins' allegedly is 'very shaken by the ordeal'.

AceShowbiz - Katie Holmes got quite a scare when filming her latest movie project "Don't Be Afraid of the Dark" over the weekend. Though she escaped without injury after the battery of car she is shooting with exploded, the 30-year-old actress was reported to be "very shaken by the ordeal," a source said as quoted by the Daily Mail.

"She took the rest of the day off while special effects staff looked over the faults," the source further explained on the condition of the Tom Cruise's wife. "Katie has filmed scenes since but it has made her think about her safety on set. She will be shooting the same scene at a later date. She's obviously very nervous about it."

The potentially serious mishap itself occurred moments after the Rachel Dawes of "Batman Begins" exited the car she uses for filming on the Australian set of the Guillermo Del Toro-produced and penned thriller. It is said that the car's battery exploded unexpectedly, sparking smoke and fumes from beneath the hood and setting the car on fire.

"Don't Be Afraid of the Dark" is a remake of the 1973 ABC made-for-television horror film. It centers on a young girl, sent to live with her father and his new girlfriend, who discovers sinister creatures that live underneath the stairs. Bailee Madison stars as the girl, while Guy Pearce plays the father and Katie Holmes takes on the father's girlfriend role. Principal photography has begun earlier this month in Melbourne, Australia.
