DAUGHTRY's 'Leave This Town' Debuts at No. 1 on Billboard Hot 200

DAUGHTRY secure number 1 on Billboard Hot 200 with their new album 'Leave This Town' which sold 269,000 copies in its first week.

AceShowbiz - DAUGHTRY's newly-released album "Leave This Town" soars to the top spot on Billboard Hot 200. Led by single "No Surprise", the album which was dropped on July 14 sold over 269,000 copies in its first week.

The band's frontman Chris Daughtry commented on the album, "We poured our hearts into these songs to make the record we've always dreamed about. To have people respond the way they have is extremely gratifying, but even more humbling." He also said, "We put a lot of heart, soul and tears into this record, [and] coffee - a lot of caffeine, lot of Red Bull. It's the best work we've done yet, we think, and we hope the fans think so too."

Having an impressive chart performance and selling point are also experienced by this band when they came out with their 2006 debut album "DAUGHTRY". At that time, they became the band who have the fastest selling debut rock album in SoundScan history with 304,000 copies in its first week.

Back to the Billboard Albums chart, sitting at number 2 is last week's champ Maxwell with "BLACKsummers'night" which has sales decline from 316,000 to 103,000 copies. Rounding up the top 3 is the soundtrack album of Disney Channel's TV series "Hannah Montana" season 3.
