Mischa Barton Placed Under an Involuntary Psychiatric Hold

No official statement has been made just yet by the actress' camp regarding the "medical issue" she's been dealing with which forced her to be placed under an involuntary psychiatric hold.

AceShowbiz - Troubled actress Mischa Barton has been placed under an involuntary psychiatric hold, which is also known as a 5150, the same code used to hold pop superstar Britney Spears twice in Los Angeles back in January 2008. According to the code, authorities can hold a person involuntarily if they present a danger to themselves or others. News of Mischa being admitted to the psych ward comes hot on the heels of previous reports that she made a non-911 call from her West Hollywood home at around 3 P.M. on Wednesday, July 15 for what was cited as "medical issue."

At the time of writing, it is reported that Mischa is receiving treatment at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. Speaking of the incident, LAPD spokesperson April Harding revealed, "We responded to her home last night on a medical issue. We assisted with it. She was removed from her home." However, Harding declined to disclose further information related to the alleged involuntary hold, citing California privacy laws.

Mischa's representative Craig Schneider tried to clear the air up by releasing a statement that read, "Police were involved due to Ms. Barton's celebrity status; to ensure her safe transfer to medical treatment for which she remains hospitalized as per the recommendation of her doctor." Though so, Craig didn't disclose the medical issue that his celebrity client is dealing with.

Due to her condition, Mischa won't attend the N.Y.C. premiere of her new movie, "Homecoming" on Thursday, July 16. The film's producer, Austin Stark, has expressed his best wishes for the movie beauty, saying "I wish her all the best. First and foremost, we want her to get healthy again. It's obvious we'd like her to support the movie and be here, but we hope she gets better."
