Artist of the Week: Maxwell
Music

The so-called 'quiet nerd who sat at the back of the classroom' is going to have his fourth album, 'BLACKsummers'night', being released in U.S. market Tuesday, July 7.

AceShowbiz - A loner when he was still a kid, Maxwell has brought himself to the surface by establishing a career in Hollywood music industry. The many hours he spent in his room earned him a total of 300 original songs, many of which were inspired by the traditions of West Indian music, hip-hop, and also early '80s soul music.

After that releasing his debut album "Maxwell's Urban Hang Suite" in 1996, the R'n' B performer won't stop crafting more songs and later spawned a sophomore record, "Embrya", only two years post the first one. Not only both sets scored great in the market, but also they established him as a Grammy-nominated singer with a total of three nods; two for Best R&B Album and one for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance.

His third album, "Now", was launched in 2001 and has become his first album to peak at the top spot on Billboard Hot 200. Now after more than 7 years of hiatus, Maxwell is back, presenting "BLACKsummers'night", which is scheduled for July 7 U.S. release. One of its singles, titled "Pretty Wings", has been performed by the star himself at 2009 BET Awards. Coming next for Maxwell is a tour to be kicked off on summer in a bid to promote the album.
