Taking over from Doomsday as Superman's nemesis in the ninth season is Callum Blue's General Zod.

AceShowbiz - After months without a filler, General Zod on "Smallville" is given an actor. A British actor by the name of Callum Blue has been cast to play the villain and will be appearing regularly in the ninth season which goes on air this Fall. He previously appeared in "The Tudors" and "Secret Diary of a Call Girl".
General Zod is one of the original characters from the DC Comics and one of the most prominent ones. There are several versions of Zod in the comic book version but he is known as a Kryptonian who knew Clark Kent's father in the past.
Zod will not be the only antagonist in the season. Earlier this month, it was confirmed by The CW that Brian Austin Green will play the role of Metallo. This baddie is a cyborg with the source power of kryptonite.
