Cher Will Share Screen With Christina Aguilera on 'Burlesque'

Joining Christina Aguilera to star on 'Burlesque', Cher will play a former dancer who struggles to keep a neo-burlesque club on Sunset Boulevard opens.

AceShowbiz - It is confirmed that Cher will join the production of Screen Gems' contemporary musical film entitled "Burlesque". She is slated to portray a former dancer who struggles to keep a neo-burlesque club on Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles opens. Cher will also sing on-screen, which marks the first time that she will show her singing skills on a film she stars in.

Gushing about the 63-year-old actress/singer's character, Screen Gems president Clint Culpepper says, "She brings a soulfulness and gravitas to this character that will ground the story." Culpepper, in addition, claims the mother of two definitely agreed to become one of the actresses of the film, but she has to adjust with her tour and performance's schedules in Las Vegas.

In the movie, Cher will co-star Christina Aguilera, who is going to be an ambitious Iowa girl with a big voice who tries to escape a hollow past and finally performs at the neo-burlesque club.

Coming from director Steve Antin, "Burlesque" will begin its production in November. Donald De Line is set to produce the film, which will hit U.S. theaters in 2010.

Beside starring on "Burlesque," Cher has reached a final deal to voice a giraffe in MGM's live-action comedy "The Zookeeper". Also joining her will be Adam Sandler, Jon Favreau, Sylvester Stallone, and Judd Apatow.
