Ivan Reitman or Harold Ramis Probably Directs 'Ghostbusters 3'
Movie

Harold Ramis confesses that both he and 'Ghostbusters' original director, Ivan Reitman, are in the same position to potentially be the helmer of the third movie.

Speculation about who will be the director of upcoming horror-comedy film "Ghostbusters 3" is swirling since there are two candidates to fulfill the position. The original director of "Ghostbusters", Ivan Reitman, and Harold Ramis, who is set to reprise his role as Egon Spengler on the film, are both counted for the director's role.

Talking to MTV's Josh Horowitz at "Year One" press junket over the weekend about the role of the movie's director, Ramis said, "[Reitman and I are] both in the same position. Unfortunately, it started with 'Animal House.' John Landis directed 'Animal House,' but both Ivan and I wanted to direct it." Then, he continued, "Ivan did 'Meatballs' right after I did Caddyshack.' Right after he did 'Stripes,' I did 'Vacation.' He did 'Ghostbusters.'"

However, Ramis testified that he doesn't want to compete with Reitman for the role. "It's not like we compete with each other, but I'm sure we're both viable candidates," he admitted. "If he didn't want to do it, I think everyone assumes I might be able to or capable of it." Asked about what if both of them want the gig, Ramis responded, "I'm sure he has dibs on it." He added, "He did the other two."
