Dan Milano, the writer and voice actor of animated series 'Robot Chicken', has been picked up to pen the script of 'Short Circuit', the remake of the 1986 movie.

A writer has been hired by Dimension Films to develop their remake project, "Short Circuit". Variety claimed that the studio are appointing screenwriter Dan Milano to pen the movie's new script.
Milano is known for his writing and voice acting work for stop motion animated series "Robot Chicken". He also co-created and played the title character in FOX sitcom, "Greg the Bunny". On his involvement with the "Short Circuit" project, producer David Foster said that Milano watched the original movie while he was in high school, and is interested in updating the concept.
As for the movie itself, Foster said, "We're bringing Number 5 into the 21st Century and taking advantage of the improvements in robotics that are so massive that robots are now performing heart surgeries in hospitals." On the robot's design which is similar to Wall-E, he gushed, "We think of 'Wall-E' as an extended trailer for our film, because it's the same face."
"Short Circuit" originally focuses on the story of an intelligent and sentient robot 'Number 5' which later takes the name of 'Johnny 5'. It was starred by Ally Sheedy and Steve Guttenberg, whereas Johnny's voice was filled by Tim Blaney. It was released on May 9, 1986, while the sequel was let out two years later in 1988.
