Stating that Columbia Records is 'not really a rap label' and doesn't understand 'what the young people want', Bow Wow asks to be dropped from the recording company.

AceShowbiz - Claiming to be unhappy with the current situation in Columbia Records, Bow Wow wants to part ways with the label. "Yep! It's true! I want off Columbia. I'm asking to be released. NO they not dropping me I'm askn. Not happy there. Been like dis 4 5yrs," he confirms on his Twitter.

Although he doesn't open what actually makes him unhappy in Columbia through the Twitter post, Bow Wow indeed shares his thought about the matter on a live chat with Justin.tv. "Number one Columbia has been messin' up since 2004-2005," he says. "I think Columbia's problem is that they don't know how to work with rappers."

"I'm really the only rapper on that label," Bow Wow continues his explanation. "My labelmates consist of John Legend who they work extremely well with, Beyonce [Knowles] who they work extremely well with, but when it comes to rappers they're not really a rap label, they don't get it."

"They're not young, and I'm a young guy but they're not young, so they don't really understand what the young people want. They got Three 6 Mafia, but when is the last time that Three 6 Mafia have put out a successful album? You can't really blame the artists because the label is the energy."

Before ending the chat, Bow Wow gives a shot out to his ex-labelmate Omarion, who has just left Columbia and inked a deal with Lil Wayne's label, Young Money. He also reveals that T.I. wants to sign him to Atlantic Records.
