Angelina Jolie Back Filming 'Salt' Despite On-Set Injury

Suffering a head injury in a stunt gone wrong during the filming of 'Salt', the 'Changeling' star resumes with production after briefly hospitalized.

AceShowbiz - Just hours after sustaining an on-set injury on Friday, May 29, Angelina Jolie is back on the set of "Salt". Confirming the matter were Columbia Pictures. "She is now back on set and will resume with production this afternoon," so claimed the studio producing the spy thriller in their statement released on the same day of the incident.

The 33-year-old suffered an on-set mishap while shooting an action sequence for the Phillip Noyce's film. During the filming of the stunt which took place on the Long Island set, the mother of six bumped hear head and suffered a cut between her eyes. Crew members then took the "Changeling" actress to a hospital in Long Island, New York for an examination.

On the heels of the incident, Columbia released a statement explaining, "This morning, while filming an action sequence during production of her new movie Salt, Angelina Jolie sustained a minor injury." The studio continued, "As a precautionary measure, Ms. Jolie was taken to a local hospital, examined and released."

In "Salt", Angelina Jolie stars as Evelyn Salt, a CIA officer accused by a defector of being a Russian sleeper spy and out to assassinate the president. Now, she must elude capture long enough to establish her innocence and prove that someone else is the traitor. Jolie took over Salt role which was intended for an actor, one in particular was Tom Cruise.

Produced by Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Sunil Perkash, the movie itself is helmed by the director of "The Quiet American", Phillip Noyce. The script was written by Kurt Wimmer and Brian Helgeland. It will see the U.S. big screen on July 23, 2010.
