Sean Penn's publicist confirms that the actor's latest legal separation case from longtime wife Robin Wright Penn has been dismissed at his request.

AceShowbiz - Oscar-winning actor Sean Penn has called off his latest legal separation from wife, Robin Wright Penn, less than a month after he filed for divorce from her, citing irreconcilable differences. A representative for the film star confirms the matter, telling reporters, the divorce papers that Sean filed on April 24 in Marin County, Calif. have been "dismissed and taken out of the system." The dismissal, thus, marks the second time in the past two years that Sean and Robin are attempting to patch up their rocky marriage.

"I can confirm papers for legal separation have been dismissed and there are no papers in the court system any longer," Sean's publicist Mara Buxbaum tells E! News. And while there is no comment just yet from Robin, who is serving as a juror at this year's Cannes Film Festival, Sean himself has been quoted as telling New York Daily News, "It was an arrogant mistake." He is currently in New York to shoot the political drama "Fair Game."

Sean Penn and Robin Wright Penn were married on April 27, 1996. He initially filed for divorce in December 2007, but his petition was later dismissed. Three days later, Robin filed her own paperwork. However, in April 2008, the couple's divorce petition was dismissed at their request.

Sean and Robin are parents to two children; daughter Dylan Frances and son Hopper Jack.
