Mickey Rourke Stars in 'Mona Lisa'

After hitting it big with 'The Wrestler', Mickey Rourke has signed on to do another movie, and this time, he will take on the remake to '80s British gangster film, 'Mona Lisa'.

AceShowbiz - Making quite a comeback with "The Wrestler", Mickey Rourke is quick to move on by signing onto several upcoming movies, one of which is "Mona Lisa". For the remake to the Neil Jordan's 1980s British gangster movie, the boxer-trained actor has recently been tapped to play the character once made famous by Bob Hopkins.

In the movie, Rourke will be portraying George, an ex-con who takes a job as a chauffeur for a high-class escort. There is big chance that this 56-year-old actor will be sharing screen with former Bond girl Eva Green since the "Casino Royale" actress is reported to be in talks to star as the girl Rourke's character will be escorting.

"Mona Lisa" will have "Kids" helmer Larry Clark serving as its writer and director. The crime drama will be produced by Handmade Films with Handmade Films International handling its worldwide sales. To be taking place in New York, principal photography has been set to start in July.

Mickey Rourke has recently made himself noticed once again in the film industry following his portrayal of a has-been wrestler trying to make a comeback in "The Wrestler". For his work in the drama, he was nominated for an Academy Award and won numerous awards, including the 2009 Golden Globe award. Since then, he has signed on to play the villain in "Iron Man 2" and to join Sylvester Stallone's "The Expendables".
