Paying his first ever public tribute to late wife Natasha Richardson, Liam Neeson says art helps him getting through the difficult time which he has to face after her tragic death.

AceShowbiz - Awarded with an honorary doctorate from his alma mater, Queens University Belfast, at the British Consulate in N.Y.C. on Wednesday, May 6, Liam Neeson took time to pay tribute to his late wife, actress Natasha Richardson. During his acceptance speech, he emphasized the importance of art in helping him gets through the tough time after losing his wife in a skiing accident in March this year.

"Everybody assumes that actors are great public speakers. It's terrifying. Forgive me for reading it," the actor began his speech. "(Art) builds from pain, from misery, from a deep-seated hurt, a monument to the human heart that shines like a golden dome among roofs rain-glazed and leaden ..... I think it is a message that a university always gives its students in the end: It's time to move on, get on with your life. I got on with mine, and I'm still getting on."

The tribute marked the first time ever that Liam spoke about Natasha in public's eyes since her death. He was accompanied to the event by sons; Micheal Richard Antonio and Daniel Jack, both of whom are his children with Natasha. Liam himself left Queens University Belfast before graduating.

British actress Natasha Richardson, who was known for her performances on stage and in feature films, passed away on March 18 at New York City's Lenox Hill Hospital after suffering head injury from a skiing accident. She was 45.
