'X-Men Origins: Wolverine' Takes World Premiere to a Desert City
Movie

Tempe, Arizona has become the host for the world premiere of 'X-Men Origins: Wolverine' on Monday, April 27, welcoming many Hollywood stars including the film's lead Hugh Jackman.

AceShowbiz - Amidst reports that 20th Century Fox are scrapping plans to release "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" in Mexico this weekend due to the swine flu, the world premiere event for the action fantasy movie has taken place in the desert city of Tempe, Arizona. On Monday, April 27, Hollywood stars and fans alike gathered at Harkin's Theaters Tempe Marketplace for the special screening.

Attending the premiere in style was the film's leading man, Hugh Jackman. Wearing all black attire completed with a leather jacket, the actor who played Wolverine in this "X-Men" spin-off rode in on a Harley Davidson motorcycle. He was then joined by co-stars, Liev Schreiber, Lynn Collins, will.i.am, Ryan Reynolds and Taylor Kitsch.

Soon after arriving at the premiere location, Jackman said to the lining fans, "No one in L.A. is sleeping out overnight when they already had tickets to the best seat in the house. I love this place. I'm moving here. It's awesome." Reynolds, on the other hand, talked about the location, saying "I think this is how they should do it from now on. I really do. L.A. has had their fair share of Hollywood premieres. So has New York. This is the way to do it. You get to be interactive with the fans."

Director Gavin Hood, producer Lauren Donner, co-chairman and CEO of Fox Filmed Entertainment Tom Rothman were also present on the special occasion. In addition to those film's stars and crew, other celebrities coming in included Gena Lee Nolin, retired NHL player Cale Hulse, season eight finalist of "American Idol" Scott MacIntyre and musician Alice Cooper.

Meanwhile, regarding the film's theatrical release delay in Mexico, Reuters reported that a spokesman for the News Corp-owned studio has said "Wolverine" would probably be delayed by a couple of weeks. The scrapping of the release plans was taken after the swine flu outbreak forced Mexico's top movie-theater chains to shut down dozens of cinemas throughout the nation's capital to prevent the spreading of the disease.

Taking the focus of the story on the metal-clawed mutant Wolverine, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" serves as a prequel to the "X-Men" trilogy. It chronicles the violent and romantic early life of the titular character, including his participation on the Weapon X program and his complex relationship with Victor Creed. It will be opened in U.S. theaters May 1.
