Summit Entertainment have slammed down circulating rumor that the production of 'The Twilight Saga's New Moon' has been halted due to a plagiarism claim against author Stephenie Meyer.

AceShowbiz - Report suggesting that the production of "The Twilight Saga's New Moon" has come to a standstill due to a plagiarism lawsuit filed against author Stephenie Meyer was proven to be a false one. As soon as the production shut down rumor made its rounds, Summit Entertainment throw cold water on it.

"There is absolutely no truth to the rumor about any interruption to the filming of New Moon," a spokesman for the studio stated. "The production of the film has not been stalled or interrupted in any way and filming continues as planned. Additionally, after consulting with Stephenie Meyer and her publishers, speculation about any claims of plagiarism are also completely not true. This is a hoax, pure and simple."

"The Internet, for all of its assets, can still be an easy breeding ground for such hoaxes and detractors, and we hope that people will not be duped so easily, and use appropriate diligence before perpetuating everything or anyone that claims to have information about the Twilight franchise," the spokesperson ended his response.

Earlier, numerous blogs and sites have picked up a story that the filming for "Twilight" sequel has been halted after a plagiarism lawsuit was filed against Meyer by one of her Brigham Young University classmates, Heidi Stanton. The lawsuit reportedly was filed after Stanton watched the "Twilight" DVD and realized that it bears similarities with a fictional short story she wrote when she and Meyer were in college together.

"The Twilight Saga's New Moon" has officially begun its production in Vancouver in mid-April. It is an adaptation of Stephenie Meyer's second novel in her "Twilight" series. Penned by "Twilight" screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg, it is directed by "The Golden Compass" helmer Chris Weitz and starred by Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner. The vampire drama movie is targeting a U.S. release on November 20.
