Robert Langdon will continue to decipher symbols in the big screen as Columbia Pictures move forward with 'The Lost Symbol', a third film of 'The Da Vinci Code' series.

AceShowbiz - "Angels & Demons" won't be opened in theaters at least until mid-May, but another Dan Brown's novel adaptation has been planned to be materialized. Along with Brown's announcement on "The Lost Symbol" publishing date, his next installment of the "Da Vinci Code" series, it was reported that Columbia Pictures will move quickly on the third feature film.

Having the rights to the Robert Langdon character, Columbia were able to negotiate a deal for the new title. Nonetheless, details on the proposed third film are yet to be disclosed. So far, it is said that the manuscript for the novel has been completed and it will follow symbolist Robert Langdon during a 12-hour period.

Of the novel which is set to be published in North America on September 15, Brown said in a statement issued Monday, April 20, by his publisher, "This novel has been a strange and wonderful journey. Weaving five years of research into the story's twelve-hour time frame was an exhilarating challenge. Robert Langdon's life clearly moves a lot faster than mine."

Meanwhile, "Angels & Demons" which is the first sequel to "The Da Vinci Code" is a second Dan Brown's novel to be brought to the big screen. It teams up once again director-writer duo, Ron Howard and Akiva Goldsman respectively. Tom Hanks returns as Robert Langdon and is supported by Ayelet Zurer, Ewan McGregor, Stellan Skarsgard, Pierfrancesco Favino and Armin Mueller-Stahl among others. This novel adaptation movie is set to be released in the U.S. on May 15.
