Carrie Underwood walks home as Top Female Vocalist, while Brad Paisley gets Top Male Vocalist at the 44th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards.

AceShowbiz - Carrie Underwood was named Top Female Vocalist at 2009 Academy of Country Music Awards Sunday, April 5. "It is my belief that country music makes the world a better place, and I'm so glad to be apart of country music," she said when given the award. "I feel like I won 'American Idol' all over again."

Another winner at the event was Brad Paisley. He took a prize for Top Male Vocalist. "I wish I could be there, but I didn't miss the birth of my next child," the singer, who was absent from the ceremony, said in a video message.

Brad had also got trophies for Vocal Event of the Year and Video of the Year. Announced on a press release back in late March, he shared the prize of Vocal Event of the Year with Keith Urban, thanks to their duet track "Start a Band". He also shared the award of Video of the Year with the video's producer Mark Kalbfeld, producer/director Jim Shea and director Peter Tilden.
