Billy Corgan is seeking a new drummer to fill the vacant position left by Jimmy Chamberlin, who exited from The Smashing Pumpkins earlier this month.

AceShowbiz - Following previous announcement stating that drummer Jimmy Chamberlin has walked away from The Smashing Pumpkins, Billy Corgan, the only remaining member of the band, desires to find a new talent to fill Jimmy's shoes. "Billy Corgan is currently searching for talented musicians to join him," so a message on their official website read.

"The Smashing Pumpkins are continuing to make music after the departure of original member Jimmy Chamberlin," the announcement continued. "When Jimmy originally auditioned for The Smashing Pumpkins, he was playing in a locally touring jazz band that was playing weddings and street fairs. It just goes to show that you never know where the next big talent will come from."

Audition will be held Friday, April 10 in Los Angeles. All requirements, including photograph / headshot, background info and links to digital files must be sent via e-mail to [email protected].

Jimmy Chamberlin decided to quit playing drum for The Smashing Pumpkins earlier this month. "I can't just, 'Cash the check,' so to speak," he said when referring to his exit from the band.

After Jimmy's withdrawal, Billy Corgan insisted that he "will continue to write and record as SMASHING PUMPKINS with plans to head into the studio this spring." He indeed has been in studio recording several new demo songs. During the sessions, he is joined by Mark Tulin, The Electric Prunes' bassist.
