Universal Pictures have thrown down a U.S. premiere for Julia Roberts and Clive Owen-starrer drama thriller 'Duplicity' four days before the film hits U.S. big screen this coming Friday, March 20.

AceShowbiz - Counting down days to the theatrical opening of "Duplicity" in the U.S., Universal Pictures took it to Ziegfeld Theater for the U.S. premiere for the drama thriller film. Held on Monday night, March 16, the special event was attended by some of the movie stars, including Julia Roberts, Clive Owen, Tom McCarthy, Denis O'Hare, Carrie Preston and Paul Giamatti.

Aside from posing for the press line upon their arrival, several of them made time to answer questions on the red carpet. Asked by USA Today "who would win in a battle of wits", Owen suggested that his co-star Roberts would win, saying "She would, because she's very smart." Roberts, who was wrapped in Christian Dior on the evening, could not agree more of the remark, saying "I would. It's just me. I have my tricks."

Director Tony Gilroy and his wife Susan Gilroy were also coming to the premiere. Other guests seen on the special evening included news anchor Brian Williams, and president and CEO of NBC Universal Jeff Zucker.

"Duplicity" follows the story of two government spies-turned-corporate operatives, former CIA officer Claire Stenwick and ex-MI6 agent Ray Koval. When their companies are battling to be the first to patent the formula for a product, they are forced to get dirty with their tactics. And as they each try to stay one double-cross ahead, two career loners find their schemes endangered by the only thing they can't cheat their way out of: love. It is slated for a U.S. release on March 20.
