Movie

Though excited about the possibility of starring in proposed live-action 'The Adventures of Jonny Quest', Zac Efron tones down the frenzy a bit as he claims the project is still in its early stages.

AceShowbiz - Linked to the pivotal role in "The Adventures of Jonny Quest" for quite a while now, Zac Efron finally speaks up about the proposed live-action project. While promoting his forthcoming comedy "17 Again" in Melbourne, the 21-year-old told Moviehole that the movie version is "a great idea" and "would be very fun".

Answering more of the question thrown by the trade, the "High School Musical 3: Senior Year" heartthrob suggested that this "Jonny Quest" film is still a couple of years away. "It's a long, long process. It's so hard when people start leaking titbits," he further explained. "They're very, very early on [with it] - not that it won't happen happen, it's just early."

On another "Jonny Quest" related news, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has said to MTV News that the proposed movie may go in a different direction since Zac Efron was currently too old to play teenage Jonny Quest. "From what I know they're going to go in a different direction," he claimed. "Other than that I'm not quite sure what the details are just in terms of the creative."

Sharing more on the matter, Rock gushed, "It's important to be authentic. If you're going to do that, Jonny can't be in his 20's." The actor who has been confirmed to take on Race Bannon character continued, "He could be [Jonny Quest] if he was younger. That's what I'm talking about - taking it in a different direction - and having it not be Jonny Quest. That's possibly the idea."

The original "The Adventures of Jonny Quest" is a popular Hanna-Barbera's sci-fi adventure cartoon series. It tells the story of an 11-year-old boy who accompanies his father, Dr. Benton Quest, on extraordinary adventures. The movie version was reported to see an older Quest to attract more teenage fans.
