'Transformers 3' Date Set for 2011
Movie

Three months before 'Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen' explodes in theaters, Paramount and DreamWorks have announced that they will made a third 'Transformers' film and have even set a date for it.

AceShowbiz - "Transformers" is getting another sequel treatment following "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" as "Transformers 3" is reported in the works and is eyed for a 2011 release. In recent report, it is claimed that Paramount and DreamWorks are planning to unspool the third "Transformers" movie over 2011's Independence Day holiday, on July 1, 2011.

While a date has been set for "Transformers 3", the studios mentioned that it doesn't mean that the threequel is officially getting a greenlit. Insiders noted that the studios wanted to secure the date before a competitor did, especially seeing that the 2011 summer release calendar starts to fill up with "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II" and "The First Avenger: Captain America".

So far, no one from director Michael Bay to the franchise's stars, Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox has been signed to reprise their roles for this third installment of the sci-fi action adventure film. Additionally, no screenwriter has been hired to do the penning of "Transformers 3" script.

In the meantime, the first sequel to "Transformers", "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen", is slated for a U.S. release on June 24. Set a year after the end of "Transformers", it follows Sam Witwicky and Mikaela Banes as they become the target of attack by Decepticons because of Sam's knowledge about the origins of the Transformers.
