'American Idol' has dismissed two out of 13 contestants vying for the title this season, and the judges announce a rule that gives them more power.

AceShowbiz - "American Idol" had people questioning when on Tuesday, March 10 they announced that a new format will be used in this eight season. Apparently the judges will get more say on the elimination round, meaning they have the power to save the bottom vote if they feel like he or she deserves it.

On the result show, the Top 13 took the stage to give a group performance of Jackson Five's "I Want You Back". Fast forwarded to the result verdict, Michael Sarver was called up first, and he was declared safe. Allison Iraheta, similarly joined Michael in the safe zone.

Jasmine Murray meanwhile, was brought to the center stage and host Ryan Seacrest called up a couple more names who were asked to stand up only. Matt Giraud and Kris Allen, both were safe while Megan Corkrey was brought to the middle of the stage to join Jasmine. One was eliminated, and that was Jasmine.

Kanye West appeared singing his "Heartless" in Auto-Tune.

Jasmine took the stage one last time and hoped that the judges would save her. When Ryan asked Randy Jackson whether he's still rooting for Murray to come back next week, Randy said no. Jasmine cried and a montage of her journey on "Idol" was played.

The next few names were pronounced safe for the next round, they were Scott MacIntyre, Alexis Grace and Danny Gokey. Anoop Desai was brought to center stage while Adam Lambert was declared safe. Jorge Nunez joined Anoop in the middle of the stage. Lil Rounds went through to the next round, meaning it was down to Anoop and Jorge.

A break was given, first-crowned "Idol" Kelly Clarkson performed "My Life Would Suck Without You", the lead single out of her new album.

The result was continued, between Anoop and Jorge, the latter had the lowest vote. Jorge had one more shot to perform but the judges chose to let him go. "Idol" will continue with 11 contestants on Tuesday, March 17.
