'Fantastic Four' to Get Darker Reboot

Words are, the 20th Century Fox are looking forward to bring out an edgier 'Fantastic Four' film without any of the original director and cast, scrapping Jessica Alba and friends from the franchise.

AceShowbiz - "Fantastic Four" could be getting a reboot treatment. IESB has reported that the 20th Century Fox are looking forward to give a fresh start for their commercially successful comic book movie with the plan of taking it into a more serious territory using an approach described as "less bubble gum" and more like "Iron Man" than "The Dark Knight".

The reboot news came in following Fox's option to remake "Daredevil" and develop a "Planet of the Apes" prequel. Furthermore, for this new start, the studio reportedly put director Tim Story and original cast, Michael Chiklis, Ioan Gruffudd, Chris Evans and Jessica Alba, out of the equation.

Back in September 2008, Michael Chiklis, the Ben Grimm of "Fantastic Four" and its sequel, had came out with a suggestion that another sequel for the superhero movie, "Fantastic Four 3", may not see the light. "No one's really given it the kibosh to me, but the silence has been deafening. The fact that no one's mentioned it or asked a question says that, more than likely, that's not going to happen," he noted at the time.

Despite the fact that reviews for both "Fantastic Four" and "Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer" were not so kind, the two had a commercial success. The first film released in 2005 had collected $330.6 million worldwide, while its follow-up, which was opened on June 15, 2007, also garnered a $289 million bow.
