Julianne Hough wins Top New Female Vocalist, while Jake Owen claims Top New Male Vocalist as early winners of this year's Academy of Country Music Awards are announced.

AceShowbiz - Despite the fact that gala ceremony for the 44th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards is still a month away, several winners for the event have been disclosed. Announced on Friday, March 6, it was revealed that Julianne Hough and Jake Owen were among the singers winning the coveted awards.
Hough grabbed a trophy for Top New Female Vocalist, beating down Sarah Buxton and Ashton Shepherd. Meanwhile, Owen was named Top New Male Vocalist, winning over Jamey Johnson and James Otto.
Along with Julianne Hough and Jake Owen, Zac Brown Band also join the early winners list. The band received an honor as Top New Vocal Duo or Group, putting aside Eli Young Band and The Lost Trailers.
2009 Academy of Country Music Awards is scheduled for April 5 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas and will be broadcast live on CBS. Taylor Swift, Toby Keith, Rascal Flatts, Sugarland, Miranda Lambert, Heidi Newfield and Tim McGraw have all been scheduled to sing at the annual event.
