The 3-D concert movie featuring Jonas Brothers, 'Jonas Brothers: The 3D Concert Experience', is unable to dethrone Tyler Perry's 'Madea Goes to Jail' from the top box office slot over the weekend.

AceShowbiz - Predicted to gross in the $25 million range, "Jonas Brothers: The 3D Concert Experience" missed industry expectations by a clear mile. What makes it even worse, the 3-D concert movie toplined by musical trio Jonas Brothers did not even manage to get close to what its predecessor, "Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert Tour", hauled in 2008.
While "Hannah Montana" concert tour movie which was shown in 683 sites collected an impressive $31.1 million during its opening weekend, "Jonas Brothers 3D" pulled in a disappointing bow of $12.5 million from 1,271 venues. On the box office chart, it also couldn't steal the top position from "Madea Goes to Jail", debuting second to the Tyler Perry's latest hit comedy.
Still, the film which also features Demi Lovato and Taylor Swift as guest performers has become the second-best highest-grossing debut ever for a music concert movie, right behind "Hannah Montana". While the movie only made less than half of "Hannah Montana" in its opening weekend, Disney distribution president Chuck Viane said he was not disappointed with the debut, adding that attendance was "very, very good."
Meanwhile, the movie about pistol-packing granny, "Madea", stayed firm atop the box office chart. Despite facing a significant 60.6|percent| decline in ticket sales, the Lionsgate film took #1 place for second consecutive weekend with $16.2 million. With the additional bow, the movie starring also Keshia Knight Pulliam and Derek Luke has collected $64.5 million in total after ten days of theatrical screening.
Collecting eight kudos from the 2009 Oscars has proven to bring a huge benefit for "Slumdog Millionaire". The rag-to-riches drama continued to climb up the box office chart, shooting up from the fifth place to third with a 43.4|percent| boost in sales. Over the weekend, the Danny Boyle-directed film added $12 million to the total sales of $115 million.
"Taken" filled in the fourth slot. Slipping down a spot from the third position, the action thriller starring Liam Neeson raked in $9.9 million. "He's Just Not That Into You" rounded up the top five with $6 million bow, while newcomer "Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li" debuted eight with $4.7 million.
