Career inequality has been cited as one of the reasons that prompt Jennifer Love Hewitt to call off her engagement to Ross McCall.

AceShowbiz - People close to Jennifer Love Hewitt, including her ex-boyfriend and the costume supervisor on her TV show "Ghost Whisperer", break their silence to US Weekly, revealing some details they know about what might prompt the actress to call off her engagement to actor fiance Ross McCall. Based on their revelation, it is assumed that it's Love's personal issues that lead to their abrupt separation.
Hewitt "was so needy and immature," Claudia Wick, who used to work as costume supervisor on "Ghost Whisperer", tells the publication. "She would call McCall up and go, 'Can you come and sit with me? I'm cold. She would drag him on the set and then pout and they'd fight. Mainly, it was her needing something from him: 'Can you say you love me?'"
Wick testifies further that Hewitt also feels insecure about her body. "She would try on clothes over clothes. She would not have lights on or mirrors in the dressing room. It's sad because she had a beautiful body," Wick says.
Meanwhile, Hewitt's ex-boyfriend, former LFO lead singer Rich Cronin, adds, "She has a big heart, but she is more than I can handle. She would say, 'I love you so much we are never going to break up.' When she dumped me, I was like, 'What?'"
In addition to those issues, career inequality is also cited as the other reason that prompts Hewitt and McCall's separation, as a source close to Hewitt claims, "It was clear they were not on the same level. It was hard for him."
Jennifer Love Hewitt and Ross McCall have been dating for one year when they got engaged in November 2007. In November the following year, Hewitt told Access Hollywood in an interview that she had gotten a wedding dress and was working on her wedding details with McCall.
However, earlier this month it was reported that the celebrity couple broke up. At time of writing, there has yet any single comment made by Hewitt concerning their split. As of McCall, he reportedly has dismissed the split report, insisting to the latest issue of US Weekly, already on newsstands, "We are working it out. We are both still wearing our rings."
