Chris Pine, the actor who portrays Captain Kirk in 'Star Trek', talks about the upcoming sci-fi film, 'Star Trek', from why it may not please everyone to the conflicts between Kirk and Spock.

AceShowbiz - Bits of the highly anticipated "Star Trek" have been discussed. Talking to The Wall Street Journal about the eleventh installment of the popular sci-fi movie, Chris Pine addressed issues from why he thinks the movie won't please everyone to the dynamic between his character and Zachary Quinto's Mr. Spock.

"I'm not well-versed in the Trek canon, but we're venturing into territory that's only been covered in these paperback novels they sell," the 28-year-old actor responded on the question whether J.J. Abrams' aim to make the movie for future fans may rattle Trek fans. He then added, "It's definitely not going to please everyone."

He also explained that the movie will deal with the growth of Kirk to be the person everyone is familiar with. "There's a scene where my character is in a bar and he's definitely inebriated and under the influence of his own arrogance," he said. "It's him becoming the Kirk everyone knows. In my book that makes the journey a little more interesting. If he's a clear-cut leader from the beginning, you don't have anywhere to go."

Stating that he still brings a lot of humor, arrogance and decisiveness to Kirk in the movie, the Lindsay Lohan's co-star in "Just My Luck" further gave out a picture of the early relationship between Kirk and Spock. "...this version is very contentious, with Spock and Kirk not enjoying each other's company at first," so he claimed. "The arc is that they find common ground through great conflict."

Aside from discussing "Star Trek" with Pine, The Wall Street Journal also talked with Zachary Quinto of his Mr. Spock. Speaking of the difference between Leonard Nimoy's Spock and his, the "Heroes" star said, "As Leonard portrayed the character he was much more grounded, but my experience with him is a bit different; he's younger and hasn't mastered the acceptance of these dualities in himself as much as he does later."

Chronicling the early days of James T. Kirk and his fellow USS Enterprise crew members during their time at Starfleet Academy, the eleventh "Star Trek" movie stars Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Karl Urban, John Cho and others. Directed by J.J. Abrams, it is set to be released in U.S. theaters on May 8, 2009. Meanwhile, the complete interview with both Pine and Quinto can be read at The Wall Street Journal.
