Addressing many issues of the sequel to 2007's 'Hairspray', director Adam Shankman suggests the new movie to be called 'Hairspray 2: White Lipstick' and gives more on who will most likely return.

AceShowbiz - The sequel of 2007 musical comedy "Hairspray" has got its working title. Giving update to MTV on the follow-up movie, director Adam Shankman spurts out that the sequel will be called "Hairspray 2: White Lipstick" saying, "Let's put it this way: It's called 'Hairspray 2: White Lipstick.' [That's a] butch title."
Shankman, whose latest film, "Bedtime Stories", ranked second at the box office, in addition states that the "White Lipstick" title came from John Waters' 1988 "Hairspray" which was originally entitled "White Lipstick" after the Sixties fashion fad. "That's what the treatment was called!'White Lipstick'," he simply says.
Apart from talking about the working title for "Hairspray 2", the 43-year-old also talks about the circulating rumor about Zac Efron's Link Larkin character getting hooked on acid. Sharing his uneasiness on the acid idea, he reveals that he may cut the part out from the movie, insisting "I think that's probably part of the treatment that won' get used. And in the treatment, [Efron's drug use] is an accident. That's the kind of stuff where you're like: 'Yeah, I don't know if that's going to work.'"
Moreover, Shankman shoots down the possibility that Efron's character will be drafted though the film's backdrop is the Vietnam War. "No, it wasn't Zac," the producer of "Step Up" explains. He also slams the rumor that John Travolta doesn't want to take on the fat suit again, saying "That's not what he said. He's like 'No, just keep going. And if it's funny, I'll do it.'"
On the villain, the director fesses up that Michelle Pfeiffer's Velma Von Tussle may not return in the sequel. "Yeah, probably [no Michelle Pfeiffer]," he admits. "Not because we didn't love her, but because we just thought different adversaries [would be necessary]. There'll be a change in villains." Still, he doesn't clearly mention who will be the next antagonist in the proposed project.
