As a two-hour special, NBC will give their December 27 primetime slot to the re-airing of the most watched event of the year, 'Beijing Olympic Opening Ceremony'.

AceShowbiz - Memorable moments from the recent Beijing Olympic will be highlighted in a two-hour special by NBC. The network will air "Beijing Olympic Opening Ceremony: TV Event of the Year" on a primetime slot (8/7c) on December 27 with hosts Bob Costas and Matt Lauer.
The two men, who also hosted the original telecast in August, will show the biggest moments in the sports event, including the performance of swimmer Michael Phelps that brought U.S.A. eight gold medallions. There will also be a brief look forward to the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games.
When it was aired live in August, Beijing Olympics Opening Ceremony was dubbed as one of the most watched events of the year. It absorbed approximately 2 billion people around the world to tune in. NBC secured the coverage for the Opening Ceremony and according to its press release, it was the Most Viewed Ever for a non-U.S. summer Olympic Games with nearly 70 million total viewers.
