The 20th Century Fox celebrated the upcoming release of 'The Day the Earth Stood Still' with a special screening in New York on Tuesday, December 9.

AceShowbiz - Three days before "The Day the Earth Stood Still" crashes into U.S. theaters, a New York premiere for the classic sci-fi remake has been held by the 20th Century Fox. Using AMC Loews Lincoln Square, New York as the place the special screening took place on Tuesday, December 9, the premiere saw many Hollywood stars walking down the red carpet.

Those attending the events included the film's cast ensemble, Keanu Reeves, Jennifer Connelly, Jaden Smith, Jon Hamm and Kathy Bates, as well as director Scott Derrickson. They were joined by celebrity guests from Jaden's parents, Jada Pinkett Smith and Will Smith, to WWE star-turned-actor John Cena and television actress Jennifer Westfeldt.

On the red carpet, some of the stars gave their time to talk about this David Scarpa-written movie to ET. About one particular scene with co-star Bates, Reeves shared, "I think the most intense scene for me was, kind of, the first scene the alien talks - being interrogated by Kathy Bates, the Secretary of Defense." More on the interview can be seen below.

Set to hit the U.S. big screen on December 12, "The Day the Earth Stood Still" follows an alien messenger, Klaatu, who comes to Earth to warn the leaders of the impending danger mankind are facing. Unlike the original movie by Robert Wise, this modern version of the 1985 sci-fi movie picks up the theme of man versus nature.
