NBC has appointed "Bring It On" actress Gabrielle Union and "X-Files" creator Frank Spotnitz to develop the network's upcoming series.

AceShowbiz - After announcing its January schedule, NBC prepares to produce a new television series. It has been reported by Variety that the network has reunited "Bring It On" star Gabrielle Union and "X-Files" creator Frank Spotnitz to produce a yet-to-be-titled new series.

Variety further notes that Spotnitz will serve as the writer, while Union will star as a detective who must race to save someone's life before it's too late. The publication also reports that this new series will be produced by Universal Media Studios.

Frank Spotnitz and Gabrielle Union have once collaborated in producing ABC's "Night Stalker" during the 2005-2006 period. Union has several credits in television series, including as regular character Keesha Hamilton in "7th Heaven" and as guest character Renee Slater on the last season of "Ugly Betty". Meanwhile, Spotnitz is an award-winning television writer and producer who recently has produced "The X-Files: I Want to Believe".
