Attempting to bring 'Knight Rider' closer to its 1980s original series, three regular cast have been dismissed from the series' upcoming episodes.

AceShowbiz - Following the announcement of full season order for NBC's "Knight Rider", the high-tech series comes with a news of some changes on its internal aspect. It has been reported that the series' three regular cast will be no longer featured on the upcoming episodes.

Sydney Tamiia Poitier, Yancey Arias, and Bruce Davison are the cast that have been dismissed from "Knight Rider" future production. The purpose behind the dismissal is being explained by the series' executive producer and showrunner, Gary Scott Thompson, as the way to bring the series closer to the original 1980s series.

Thompson said in a statement, "It's a reboot, we're moving away from the terrorist-of-the-week formula and closer to the original, making it a show about a man and his car going out and helping more regular people, everymen." Thompson who calls the trio as "three of the most professional actors I've ever worked with", explained that the axing of the stars is purely because of the new direction of the series and not due to any unsatisfactory feeling over their work.

The reboot is also believed to make "Knight Rider" fits into NBC's Wednesday slot along with "Life" and "Law & Order". In the meantime, NBC has scheduled to air the series' two part episodes, the episode 1.10 and 1.11 on the same week, putting episode 1.10 for Sunday airing after an NFL football game in January and the 1.11 on the following Wednesday.

On October 21, "Knight Rider" has been ordered for a full season to complete its 13 original episodes to 22.
