'Dexter' Continues With Two More Seasons

Showtime has ordered 12 episodes each for the fourth and fifth seasons of 'Dexter'.

AceShowbiz - Showtime's TV series, "Dexter", will be produced for two more seasons. The network has confirmed to pick up the serial killer series for two more additional seasons, the fourth and fifth seasons which contain of 12 episodes each. The fourth season's filming will begin next spring in Los Angeles and will be premiered in 2009.

The series has the highest rating of all Showtime's programs, with its September 28 episode getting three million viewers. The series received a 2008 Peabody Award and had been nominated for five Emmy Awards earlier this year, including best drama series and best lead actor in a drama.

Showtime President Robert Greenblatt said in a statement that the series' achievement is because all of the hard work from its cast, writer, and production team. He said, "'Dexter's' enormous success is a tribute to the great achievements of its cast, the producing team, the author of the original book, and the gifted Michael C. Hall." Then he added, "I thought at best we would attract a devoted cult audience but soon realized that, ironically, this show is so thematically rich and layered with humanity that audiences of all kinds have flocked to it."

"Dexter" revolves around Dexter Morgan, played by Hall, an expert of complicated and conflicted blood-spatter who works for Miami police department and at the same time is also a serial killer.
