AceShowbiz - Robert Downey Jr. is seen for the first time in the role of Sherlock Holmes through a bunch of pictures from the filming of Guy Ritchie's "Sherlock Holmes". Posted on both Just Jared and INF Daily, the pics are taken from the shooting in Central London on Friday, October 10.

While director Ritchie and some extras are seen in the pictures, there's no sighting of Jude Law or Rachel McAdams yet who will reportedly star as Dr. John Watson and Irene Alder respectively. There's also the picture where Downey is discussing with his stunt double on how to jump off the building.

Aimed for a 2010 release, "Sherlock Holmes" is based on Lionel Wigram's upcoming comic book and centers on the adventures of the witty 19th Century detective who will be portrayed more as an action hero. Downey said that Ritchie will employ the film closer to Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's books, saying "We're returning to a little bit more of what the stories always had in them and the scale of them and the canvas is so huge I just don't think they've ever had the budget to fully tell the story in a really big, fun way."
