Marvel Studios reportedly have contacted the director and discussed the possibility of him helming the comic adaptation movie.

AceShowbiz - With several names coming out attached as the helmer of "Thor", Kenneth Branagh becomes the last one mentioned. The Northern Irish director and actor who was catapulted to success through the 1989 "Henry V", is said to be in talks to helm the Marvel Comics adaptation of "Thor".
The news comes from Variety that reported Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige picks Branagh as the director. This has been considered as an odd choice for Branagh has not helmed any action movie in more than a decade although he did earn two Oscar nominations for "Henry V". No other details have been shared except that the movie is aimed to be released on June 4, 2010.
Previously a couple of names have been lined-up to be in the director's seat. Matthew Vaughn who directed "Stardust" was the first to be outed last year, and D.J. Caruso ("Disturbia") followed the next year, but Branagh is the first name mentioned coming out of the studio itself.
Written by Mark Protosevich, "Thor" tells the story of an arrogant God Thor who is sent by his father Odin to learn humility in the body of a partially disabled medical student Donald Blake. With a hammer in his hand, Thor is sent to Earth to protect mankind.
