First of all praising their late father to have "played many unforgettable roles" during his entire life, the daughters said he "was a rare symbol of selfless humility, the last to acknowledge what he was doing was special. Intensely private, he quietly succeeded beyond measure in impacting the lives of so many with his generosity."

"Always and to the end, Dad was incredibly grateful for his good fortune," the statement continued. "In his own words: 'It's been a privilege to be here.' He will be profoundly missed by those whose lives he touched, but he leaves us with extraordinary inspiration to draw upon. During this difficult time, we ask for privacy for our family."

Meanwhile, several Hollywood celebs have also paid tribute to the prolific film star, who was also a fan of race-car and passionate philanthropist. Movie hunk Leonardo DiCaprio admitted, "For me personally, his is the kind of life I would like to lead in this industry. Not only was he classy and phenomenally talented, but he led a normal life." He added, "He was also extraordinarily philanthropic and gave back such a tremendous amount. He was the ultimate role model."

George Clooney, Robert Redford, Russell Crowe, and Julia Roberts have their own perception about the late Newman. Redford, who costarred with Newman in the 1969 "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid" and 1973 "The Sting", admitted to have lost "a real friend." Newman died Friday, September 26 at his farmhouse near Westport, Connecticut after long battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, actress Joanne Woodward, 78. He is the father of five daughters; Stephanie and Susan with his first wife, Jacqueline Witte, and Clea, Nell, and Lissy with Joanne. His son, Scott Newman, died of an accidental drug overdose in 1978.
