Rachel McAdams for 'Sherlock Holmes' Lead, Oprah Winfrey for 'The Princess and the Frog'

The star of 'Red Eye' is joining the Guy Ritchie's latest action project, while the talk show host will be lending her voice to a Princess' mother in Disney's animation.

The latest casting news from Hollywood has put in the shoes of "" leading lady. Though details about her character has yet to be shared, Access Hollywood reported that the 31-year-old actress has been signed to join and in the cast of the Guy Ritchie's modern version of the famed detective.

Allegedly, the official announcement of the "" star's involvement will be outed at a press conference in London on Wednesday, October 1. In the meantime, McAdams will soon be seen starring in New Line Cinema's romantic drama "", which is due November 1, 2008, and in Universal Pictures crime thriller "" which is slated for April 17, 2009 release.

On other casting news, it is unveiled at the Walt Disney Studio Showcase at the Kodak Theater in Hollywood on Wednesday, September 24, that talk show host is joining "". The queen of daytime television will be lending her voice to Eudora, the mother of the New Orleans princess, Tiana. Her role reportedly was once linked to .

"Sherlock Holmes" is based on Lionel Wigram's upcoming comic book and centers on the adventures of the witty 19th Century detective who will be portrayed more as an action hero. It is set to begin its production in October 2008 for 2010 release with Downey as the titular character. Additionally, the Warner Bros. Pictures film will be produced by Joel Silver, Lionel Wigram, Dan Lin and Susan Downey.

On the other hand, "Princess and the Frog" is based upon the classic fairy tale The Frog Princess. It is penned and directed by "Little Mermaid" and "Aladdin" helmers Ron Clements and John Musker. The animated flick due for December 25, 2009 release will be set in New Orleans during the Jazz Age and will be featuring the first ever Disney's African American Princess.
