Music

Darius Rucker sets an impressive move as his first country single, 'Don't Think I Don't Think About It' from his latest album, peaked at number three in Billboard Hot Country Singles chart.

AceShowbiz - Starting his music career as a lead singer of soft pop/rock band Hootie & the Blowfish, Darius Rucker has no doubt trying his hands at making country music tune. "The other guys in the band grew up in Maryland and Chicago, and they were into Led Zeppelin and rock," he says. "I was the one bringing in the country stuff."

"Don't Think I Don't Think About It" is the first single from his second major studio album, "Learn to Live", which has been available in stores since September 16. The song has climbed to number 3 in Billboard Hot Country Singles chart and reached number 35 in U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart. Those achievements have made him the first black to crack the country Top 10 since Charley Pride did so with his song "Shouldn't It Be Easier Than This" in early 1988.

Other songs from his just-released effort include "All I Want", which features Brad Paisley on electric guitar and "If I Had Wings", which carries Alison Krauss and Vince Gill's backup vocals. Furthermore, speaking of the 12 songs, 11 of which are co-written by himself, he describes them as up-close and personal "journey." He explains as saying, "I realized I'm 42. I'm not going to write many songs about drinking, chasing girls or booty calls. I was going to write songs about having kids and stuff - songs about life."

Being able to win country fans' heart at hello with his lead single, Darius is keen to continue promoting his sophomore studio effort by plotting a road show. On September 23, the singer will make a live appearance at Minneapolis' The Cabooze and then continue to take the stage of Joe's Bar in Chicago on September 24. Atlanta will be his next destination on September 25 before singing in Raleigh, North California on September 28.
